Jiamusi University is located in Jiamusi, a charming city in Heilongjiang Province of China. The university was founded in 1947, and after 60 years of development and construction, it has found its way into the list of key universities to receive special support from Heilongjiang Government. The University has covered post-graduate education, general higher education, higher vocational and technical education and adult education (continuing education). In 2009, it started its doctorate degree program.

　　The university, covering an area of 1.5 million square meters with the construction area of 950,000 square meters, has five school districts and a Hi-Tech Park, twenty-six colleges, a department directly under the university and sixty-nine research institutes. The academic subjects and disciplines of the university include ten disciplines involving arts, science, law, engineering, medicine, economics, education, history, management and agriculture. It has seventy-six undergraduate programs and thirty-four master's degree programs. Among them, there is one state-level special subject, one demonstratively experimental subject of vocation and profession at the national level, eight key province-level subjects, three provincial key laboratories, three provincial experiment centers by demonstration, and nine provincial quality courses.

　　As a basic department of Jiamusi Medical College, Jiamusi University Basic Medical College was established in 1947 and then was renamed Jiamusi Medical College in 1958. In 1980 the college began post-graduate education. In 1981 it became one of the first universities authorized by the central government to confer bachelor's degree. In 1986 it was entitled to grand master's degree. In 1996 four individual colleges in Jiamusi region merged into a comprehensive university, to which our college was affiliated. In August 1999 it was renamed Jiamusi University Basic Medical College.

Basic Medical Collegetakes charge of 17 specialized core courses, 2 specialized courses and 24 specialized optional courses. It has enrolled 320 India and Pakistan students in medical specialty, meanwhile being in charge of 15 courses for science degree masters and specialized degree masters.

Basic Medical College is a second-rank administrative college, consisting of 4 comprehensive laboratories and 13 teaching and research sections, which are divided into 7 departments and 1 center for the promotion of interaction and mutual cooperation among various subjects. Under its administration there are 2 provincial key disciplines,1 provincial demonstration center for basic medical experimental teaching, 7 university key disciplines, 5 disciplines authorized to confer masters degree,1 provincial exquisite course, 5 university exquisite courses, 1 university research innovative team, 1 university personnel training mode experimental plot, and 3 university teaching teams.

The college currently has over 153 faculty and staff, with 27 full professors, 39 associate professors and 29 lecturers, including 24 teachers with doctorship, 2 part-time doctoral candidate Teachers, 33 masters candidate Teachers, 1 professor honored as the national prominent teacher and 3 professors honored as the provincial prominent teacher. The college has undertaken 1 National 973 Sub-topic,5 National Natural Sciences Fund projects and 15 Provincial Natural Sciences Fund projects. 1 second prize for National Teaching Achievement and 32 Provincial Achievement Awards have been achieved. The teachers have published 29 papers included in SCI and edited 35 state-level teaching materials or monographs.

With a splendid legacy accumulated over many years, the college has retained rigorous scholarship research, having lots of excellent teachers with high level specialized knowledge and professional skill.

　　The university, adhering to such an educational policy of “cultivating students” as its basic principle and teaching as its central task, carries out the “teaching year” activities, deepens teaching reforms, keeps innovating the talent training model and implementing “One Body , Two Wings” program (One body refers to teaching; two wings refer to computer teaching and foreign language teaching). The teaching quality of the school has been continuously improving, and students’ comprehensive quality involving employment ability has been greatly enhanced. By the end of 2009, it has cultivated nearly 400,000 competent people of various types.

　　Taking the opportunity of starting the doctorate degree program, the university carries out the activity of “discipline year” to strengthen the “twenty subjects” program, and meanwhile it has founded “six experiment (research) centers”, thus the comprehensive advantages have been fully demonstrated.

　　Jiamusi University has undertaken some large-scale and highly sophisticated national projects from National Projects “973” and Projects “863”, Key Projects of National Natural Science Foundation, National Social Science Fund Project, Nation Supporting Program of Science and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences Research Projects of the Ministry of Education. In the research field of wear-resistant materials, drug research and agricultural engineering research, the university has been awarded dozens of national patents and greatly strengthened the ability to improve the development of the economy.

　　The university has established friendly and cooperative relations with 32 colleges and universities from 13 countries and regions including Russia, the United States, Britain, South Korea and Japan. With China’s government scholarship, more than 702 students from 51 countries are pursuing their studies. These overseas students won the team title in the First International Competition of Chinese and the personal top three. One person won Bronze Medal on the second session of the "Chinese Bridge" Competition of China.

CURRICULUM AND FACULTIES

This is a very important today for any medical student and any medical college taking student from India. Student went in large numbers to European countries like Russia Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Armenia to study medicine. They could not do well in their Screening Test Exam conducted by the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the students failed in mass. This is because the students had to study in a different system and the MCI had conducted the exam in the pattern based on the syllabus and system of India.

To solve this problem JMU has adapted MCI curriculum in collaboration with International Curruculum to keep its standards high. This is of greatest advantage to Indian students. All other universities claim to do so…but as a parent you need to check the following….

Academic year: From September 1 to July 30 of second year is one academic year.

Educational system:

1.Bachelor’s Degree: Five years(+ One Year Internship)

Hostel & Saftey

There are separate facilities for Boys and girls. Well appointed hostels with fully furnished, air conditioned rooms made for international students. Rooms are furnished with TV, Telephone, Refrigerator, Washing Machine, Radiators, Air condition and other amenities.

The hostels are given good protection by security agencies and police booths in the University.

Eligibility

Students with 10+2 are eligible for the MBBS Program.

Minimum Percentage of marks is 60% aggregate in science subjects and 50 % in English Language

(Note: Minimum Percentage of marks for SC/ST students is 50%)
